creative statement

Aïda is a Brooklyn-based artist who grew up between the United States and Egypt. Her photography work aims to capture the liminality inherent to this cultural vacillation. She focuses on the spaces between Eastern and Western cultures, honing in on the intersecting visuals of her Arab and Appalachian heritage. With two decades of photo experience, her photography has evolved to capture the echoes of these faded empires, portraying the aura of former splendors ensconced within decay.
